We checked out the Rochester Club Ballroom last night. We were there for 3 1/2-4 hours! Needless to say, Greg was very tired when we picked him up from Johns parents house.This ballroom is absolutely gorgeous! The building was built in 1896 if that gives you any idea about the architecture. The detail is amazing, and the lights on the ceiling are Waterford Crystal and very delicate. Apparently the building was originally "The Mens Club of Rochester". We really liked it, and the fact that they make all of their own food from fresh ingredients and they will work with us to come up with any menu we'd like including using secret family recipes from our own families if we choose. They also offer a childrens menu and stock juices, soda (real stuff, not pre-mixed), and milk at the bar so that the brides side will be able to take part in the open bar as well. She even said when I asked if they had real Diet Coke, that if that is what I want she will get it for me and stock it behind the bar as well. (A little something for mom). They will also stay open as long as we want them too. If we want to stay until 4 in the morning, that's fine, and no extra charge! If we plan to do an outside wedding somewhere and it rains we are welcome to do the ceremony there at no extra charge. Pretty much they will cater to our every whim, and most of it is complimentary. Another huge plus is there is a private Brides Bathroom!
The downsides... You have to park in a parking garage (which is free of charge on weekends and weeknights after 5:30) unless we spring for valet parking (in which someone else will park your car in the parking garage ~John pointed out that some people are weird about their cars being parked in garages~), the ballroom is on the second floor of the building with no balcony, and a pretty small receiving area where the bar is, which could get very crowded since you have to walk through there when you arrive. There is no bar in the ballroom, not even a mobile bar. (In know that my side doesn't really care about this, but it is important to the grooms side). They are available on Oct 2nd and Oct 3rd (Friday, and Saturday), atleast so far. Either way, at this moment in time we should be able to get whichever one we choose. John is now leaning toward the Saturday option considering the dealership where he works can't exactly close down the entire Jeep side so that our guests can attend. I had the same thought about the title department at my dealership. Especially at end of the month. So much for my "10 to 9" wedding. Anyway, we are planning on checking out some more places before we decide since this was the first place in which we've looked. I do LOVE the architecture, and the fact that it's not a boring old party house, it has some history!

That was something that I specifically asked about. I know that Johns side will utilize the open bar, but I wanted to make sure that it was functional for my side too!

It is actually a picture from Brian and Katies wedding. The dress is chocolate brown with a dusty rose cumberbund that ends in tails in the back. It's very pretty. Greggy looks so handsome in his tux!
That is a really pretty location - I love the arches and the details in the trim!
